Our latest participation as a country has been two major events: the World Championship in Curacao (June 2011), where six sailors represented the country and the latest North American Championship, hosted by the Barrington Yacht Club (Rhode Island, USA) which had two of our sailors.
There were “ups and downs” on both events, but the fleet is aware of the Venezuelan talent to be on the chase at all times showing and friendly, but fierce competition. Still some points to fix on all of us, but we all know the efforts involved on making this happen. Let’s keep moving forward and put our country back at the top where it belongs.
At World’s, Marx Chirinos ranked best Venezuelan sailor, finishing 7th. overall, followed by Hugo Colmenares, 13th, Hector Vidal 14th, Jose Vicente Gutierrez 20th, Rodrigo Favela 25th. and Roberto Kazibutowski 47th.
At North Americans, Victor Diaz finished 10th. and Jose Vicente Gutierrez 11th.
We thank the Association, Venezuelan Sailing Federation and parents / supporters of all the sailors for all the efforts on making this happen.
Sail fast!
